Happy Monday Fantastic First Grade Families! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend, despite the cold and rain!
It's hard to believe we are getting so close to the end of the year! It seems like just yesterday it was August and we were getting to know each others names. Now we are well on our way to becoming SECOND GRADERS!
We will be wrapping up our Money Unit in math this week and taking our test on Friday, May 10. After we take our test we will spend the remainder of the year reviewing various concepts such as place value, telling time, and graphing.
For the next two weeks our spelling will switch back to a whole class approach. We will spend the next two weeks completely mastering First Grade Sight Words. Your child's spelling list will be longer than usual, but they will already know many of the words on the list so it shouldn't be overwhelming. We call these long lists MONSTER SPELLING! Many students have already mastered the list of First Grade Sight Words, so they will be working on MONSTER CHALLENGE WORDS! These are also high frequency words, but are a little bit tougher. They have proven they are up for the challenge! Every student received their list of words today and will take their test on Friday.
