Our First Full Week!

We did it! We made it through our first full week as first graders! We read lots of books (aloud, alone, and with a friend!), wrote small moment stories, and so much more! Check out our jam packed week!

Read To Self:
Read To Self is one of our Daily 5 choices. We pick a spot, park it, and read THE WHOLE TIME! This is a very quiet time during our day - everyone is super engaged in the books they chose for their book boxes!

Writer's Workshop:
You won't believe it, but these first graders are already writing small moment stories that span across multiple pages! We can write small moment stories about a place we've been, something we've done, or something that has happened to us. We have lots of stories about vacations, loose teeth, and trips to the zoo/magic house/Grant's Farm!

Math Centers:
We've spent time this week getting familiar with our math center materials and learning a few math center choices. This is a math game called Roll and Color. We roll two die, add the numbers together, and color in the corresponding number. It's a great way to practice our addition facts! Ask your child what other math centers we learned this week!

Read To Someone:
Read To Someone is another Daily 5 choice. When we Read to Someone, we sit EEKK - elbow to elbow, knee to knee, book in the middle so we both can see! We take turns reading books from our book boxes with a whisper voice.

Decorating our Leadership Binders:
We had so much fun decorating our Leadership Binders and sharing with the class. It was a great way to get to know each other!
